starky6 2011-05-16 11:48:45
If you guys haven't seen him don't complain - he was great before American Idol and they didn't ruin him. Try it - you'll like it. Thanks zman.
sloth1976 2011-05-16 11:52:45

Do your homework before you knock it, he's in the jamband scene and has been on jamcruise multiple times.

just my 2 cents- anyone who has ever had anything to do with american idol is utter crap- that is what has ruined the music industry today- i dont care how talented they may be
mgouker 2011-05-16 17:01:49
Zman wouldn't post it if it wasn't worth listening to. That's my 2 cents.

If Panic lets him sit in, then he is ok in my book!

im not knocking the recording by any means, just to make that clear.
phunkyzen 2011-05-16 18:07:03
For the most part the music industry was crap a long time before american idol came to be.

Judge the music on its face value without passing judgement on someone who was trying to make it big even if you would consider that to be a sellout move.

As someone who has known Taylor since he was playing for change here in Auburn, he hasn't changed a bit. He entered the AI competition on a dare from his Mom, and ended up winning. He was more shocked than anyone else.

He's the same guy now as he was then, except now he's laughing all the way to the bank.
mgouker 2011-05-16 23:00:38
Cool... Lonely Avenue. :-)
mgouker 2011-05-16 23:02:24
Lonely Avenue teased and played for the most part inside of track 7. It's a song the Jerry Garcia Band used to play when I went to see them in Berkeley and Palo Alto. ;-)
mgouker 2011-05-16 23:12:28
My City Was Gone is a Pretenders cover.
mgouker 2011-05-16 23:41:12
"Minute By Minute" is teased in "The Maze"

"Valley Road" is by Bruce Hornsby. It's a song that Jerry plays on, I think. Did the Dead play it? I think so. I never saw any of those shows.

The sax playing throughout is very good. The blues solos in Battlefield are nice too.

The tape is what you would expect given the source. LOL

Thanks for posting it!

Anybody that opens a show with Compared to What doesn't suck. You either have soul or you don't. Who cares about his past in American Idol. It just proved he was really good as a singer. It is not as if he produces the show.
