Hey Terry - I hate to sound like a real weenie, newbie... but I'm gonna anyway. If you wouldn't mind..what is the purpose of MD5s, Checksums, FFPs - since I've never used one to burn a CD? In my defense, I do maintain all records from here and the archives which I pass along when needed. I'm tryin' to figure all this out and I've already aggravated Germain enough for this week. Thanks to you or anyone else who would have a "layman's" explanation.
Also, thanks for all that you and the rest of the "etree crew" do. |

MD5/FFP is a way to Verify if your files are error-free.

Both are out-dated, but you get the idea...
In the case of FLAC files, I prefer to use FFPs instead of MD5s. If you change the Tags on a FLAC file, the previous MD5 will be "no good". FFP doesn't care...

What a night this was. I met Trey outside the Plastic Fantastic record store, met Mike inside and met Fishman outside the club that evening. Met a beautiful dreadlocked woman outside the club, and us all under-21'ers got slipped in through the back door. THEN, I got busted by the bartender, and when I didn't put up a fight, he told me I could stay if I paid the cover.
Oh yeah and Phish played, too. Gone are the days ... |
