They went by "Legion of Mary". Hands down my favorite Garcia side band. Kept busy during high school with these guys touring, Hot Tuna, Grateful Dead, NRPS, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kingfish....what a time. Thanks .

Didn't start booking under the Legion of Mary name until the following month. Close, though.

Actually, they didn't start going by Legion of Mary until 1975, when Martin Fierro was with them. 73 and 74 would have been Garcia/Saunders or Jerry & Merl, etc...

Jerry's guitar playing in this show is stunningly sinuous and breathtakingly gorgeous. What a master! If you want to experience how powerful grace, and suppleness can be, get this show.

As others have said, definitely not Legion of Mary in early '73. spaceotter is basically correct that it was early 1975.

It would seem that the shows in Oregon on December 14-15, 1974 were billed as LOM, though the above post has not been updated to reflect that. |
