Here is yesterday afternoons T & S set from the Steel Jam in Bethlehem, Pennsyltucky. Keep in mind, I had not seen a show in 18 days due to working every night during that period. I was at Mark and Laurie's house in New Jersey and Mark got on line and mentioned Steel Jam. He mentioned Truth & Salvage as well as Tea Leaf Green. I then asked him how far Bethlehem was and the Mapquest told us an hour and 41 minutes. My drought would be over! My batteries went immediately on all their respective chargers for a 2 hour period. I called Adam of T & S and he promptly put me on the guest list and said come on.
I hit the road at about 1:00. Mark made me a sliced Tomato and Cucumber Sandwich with Goat Cheese for breakfast. I stopped in Boontown to hit Woks, and grabbed some food for the ride. When I arrived at the mighty Bethlehem Steel plant, I followed signs for the Festival. I went to the AQ Center info desk, grabbed my pass, and parked in the Performers Lot, as Jeff the security guard let me in and gave me a pass. So far it was as smooth as a baby's ass.
T & S was slated to play on the 3rd floor stage. I went upstairs and set up just in front of the board, about 20' from the stage. Adam came over and we hugged. He said they had killer WIFI. I got AC power off the board and with 5 bars of WIFI, the Ztream was on! The band set up quickly and came on at about 4:10. Very few folks were there but as soon as the boys began, we had a small but respectable crowd. There was also an outdoor stage, but there were very few folks on the grounds. Perhaps the dark skies and it being the last day of the Labor Day Weekend had something to do with it.
The set kicked off with a nice Jump The Ship>Heart Like a Wheel. The sound was good, but not great in the cavernous room. That did not stop the guys from giving us a sweet set! Some of my favorites were Rise Up, Bad Times>Welcome To LA>Old Piano, and the Pure Mountain Angel encore!
I have enjoyed seeing/taping/ztreaming these guys ever since I first saw them open for the Black Crowes a couple of years ago. GO check them out!
Lunch today was Egg Drop Soup along with some Spicy Chicken and Broccoli with Pork Fried Rice. After the show, I hit the Waffle House right off the Bethlehem exit for the All American Breakfast which consisted of Eggs over Medium, Sausage Patties, Raisin Toast, Grits, and a Peanut Butter Waffle. It is National Waffle Week!
