This is this week's show selection for Caravan's "Back in my Day" blog, a recounting of what it was like to see Phish in yesteryear. If you enjoy stories of the good ol' daze coupled with embedded listening links, then get your blast from the past here:

And if you are one of those who thought Phish came of being in '94 or '95, I dare you to give this Weekapaug a listen. But you have been forewarned, this may cause 3rd degree facemeltage. |

| Also, this show was omitted in the recent seeding of 1993 here at etree. Of note, this is the original shn fileset, and not the strange flac'd copy that made the rounds awhile back. |

| Great idea superfreakie. As a budding geek Phish historian I love this find of anecdotal shit. |

thanks! I almost passed this up, as I was sure I had all of the '93 shows (that are available digitally).
Glad I didn't.
Memory lane is a foggy cavern's musty grime.

| Thanks for the seed and link SF! When I went to find the link for this show on etree, I saw that it was the only show that had been passed over...weird...Anyway, good lookin out! |

Nice idea.
93 is one of the more remarkable years imo. The band really took flight.
Best overall year though is 94. :)
Second best 93. Sickness. Great show here. |

| Most would say 97 is up there I know, but for me personally, 93 is more my liking. It's Phish being Phish. |

There is also an existing FLAC version that has a "bad" file, in that the WAV MD5 doesn't match... I think... I don't remember...

| T - I also have the flac seed, but my track 8 doesn't match the flac torrent seeded by Caravan. Regardless, from what I have been able to gather, what I have seeded here seems to be from the original fileset seeded back in 2001. Figure the original is best, warts (sbe) and all. |

i agree Lenny
i think 94 had the best combo of technical proficiency and extremely risky rock and roll odysseys. |

| of course being the year of my 1st show doesnt hurt my bias |

the venues played were more intimate in Feb and Apr 93, than say 94. east coast college bias

At the time, I felt the peak of pyrotechnic Phish hit in November '94. After that, Trey seemed to let emotion/space/patience seep in to their playing. And although that emotion was downright "dark and evil" the following summer, at least I didn't feel like I needed oxygen at the end of a boggie session.

Dead on superfreakie. I remember well talking about it as it was happening.
Many a Phish Head got off the bus in 94 because of that emotion/patience/space. 93 was the last hoorah.
I remember a tape trading buddy and old Phish Head swear if he heard Sample once more on Summer 94 tour he'd be done. He was done.
Hoist changed some things.

| Yeah, I know people who say that their Phishing license expired after fall '94. "Oh well", move room for those who like get the groove on with the band. |

| I feel badly for anyone who missed 1995-2000 -- glorious years each one, in their own right. 2003 is growing on me, too, as I listen again, though there were a few clankers. |
