Here is last night's Drive-By Truckers show from Boston. Sorry for the delay, but after the show, I had to stop at Lucky Seven in Malden for some late night chow. Have not had a day off in over 2 weeks and I had to be up early. Long day of work had me getting to the venue at around 7:25. Hit the taping area to find Rory and Jason all set up. To all our surprise, security came by and placed stantions around our area. Very unique as I have NEVER seen this before. We got through a 45 minute set of Titus Andronicas, and awaited DBT patiently. Great to see Matt D as ALWAYS! Night in and night out, he has these guys dialed in! Now with his own sound board, he really has it tweaked!
A mellow opener of I Used To Be A Cop. Wonder if Russ was listening? As the set unfolded, I would be safe to say that this may have been the "mellowist" DBT set I have ever witnessed. Everything was well played. I'll bet Neff played the pedal steel 7-8 straight songs. Not a problem for me as I love some steel. When they came out for the encore, they ripped it! Zip City kicked it off. As Jason said, this is the time of year we get to hear Thanksgiving Filter. For Let There Be Rock, Patterson made reference to Bruce Springsteen in place of Molly Hatchet in the first chorus.
Great to hang with Jason, Rory, and Matt D! Late night dinner from the Lucky Seven was Pork Foo Young, Pork Fried Rice, and Boneless Spare Ribs.
