I do not hear the clipping mentioned in the comments for DB#851. But then again, I didn't hear any clipping on DB#851...
I do think this this tape is "bright", and the levels on the AD1k are HOT...

Funny how things change over time. I recall the early 90s shows being much better than the mid 90s shows which were much better than the late 90s shows, & although I took a 10 year break & last saw them @ Deercreek in 2009 for the "lightning show", I look back & recall the '99 shows w/ fondness. Hearing them all on "tape" years later I find joy in each one but this Alpine gig from 7/24 was likely one of the last "great" PHiSH shows I remember seeing (although the 1st Deercreek on 7/25 was a good competitor w/ it's Makisupa, Walk Away, YEM, & Loving Cup!).
I went to all 3 shows with my 2 little bros & at Alpine we had killer seats in the center in front of the board. The whole first set rocked, Fluffhead > TMWSIY > Avenu > Wedge was tops end to end & the Avenu sandwich was one of my all time favorite versions. Who couldnt love that 4 song mini-set encore with the Glide > Camel Walk > Alumni Blues > Tweezer??? I remember thinking....I'm so glad we made this show!!! So....thanks to the Seeder for reuniting me with my fond memories & providing 2013 stocking stuffers for my "little" bros!!!! |
