-this one was a bit funny on set up - after not being bothered walking in with my equipment, the head of security tried to shut me down, but I told him
Dumpsta is OK with it and I'll stay back by soundboard in corner, so we were good with each other. The soundman seemed OK with it, but then the manager
or someone with the band said no go it was in the agreement, etc. But then he backed off and seemed to indicate he'd ask the band/manager and/or just not
worry about it - so I stayed set up and no one came back to shut me down, so I must have gotten the thumbs up.
-pretty nice quality for sure - I had the mics up about 7' on stand and baffle, but like I said tucked in corner by soundboard. Give it an "A-".
-smokin' show - some new tunes and a new drummer - not sure of 3 of titles - one may be "Liar" - help out if you can. Love this band!
-another Sonoran Desert Recording recorded, mastered, and seeded by matt23.

| I can tell you that in Octoberish of 2010 when their CD was released, I asked for a SBD patch and was denied. Ivan said something about wanting the CD to be the representation for people. I think they had a semi-official change of audio taping policy at that point maybe. |

| Well they are getting ready to put out a new CD and are playing some of the tunes from it already at shows, so maybe that's why there was a bit of indecision, but ultimately one of them told me "not to worry about it." Seemed like concern was coming from manager, not band, who may have been worried about the unreleased songs getting out there early before CD is released - I've heard that excuse from different managers before. The reality is alot of band managers of bands that allow recording don't really agree with the policy but get overruled by band - shows where different peoples' priorities/concerns are (as in management = main concern = $$$/CD sales). |

| They've been waffling on the taping issue for almost the last 2 years. Everyone seems to point the finger at someone else. It is really pointless. |

I think the only new song they have is Blueswave, all the other new tunes are covers... Bowie's Fame, Graham Central Station's Water, Betty Davis's If I'm In Luck, Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box, The Meters' Liar.
It's true they revamped their setlist last November, but it's all covers... |

is track10 "Lt. Dan"?
interesting story about the taping. i taped them the following night at the compound in phx, i placed my ZoomH4n onstage in front of Ian while he was setting up. i asked if it was ok to tape and he was like "oh oh oh, you are going to have to ask Tony". so Tony came out and i asked and he said "oh oh oh gotta talk to the boys make sure thats ok". and that was the last i heard.
i taped it, i will get it on here real soon, came out pretty good, great fun show, i love these guys.
oh - saw them at funkfest in long beach - Tony wasn't with them. it was just the four of them for a little while, then E.C. from Lettuce joined, and boy does that guy throw down, wow that was fun - double bass with E.C. and Nick - yes.
