|| MATRIX: FM DSBD (40%) & FOB Neumann TLM-170 (60%)||
======================================================
- Because the AUD source was missing the Makisupa intro, I used a 10 second crossfade to ease the two sources together, you will hear it
fade in.
- Because of the edits (noted below) to set one of the FM Source, there may be some slight phasing issues, I went over Set 1 maybe 8 times
making adjustments, they are barely noticeable now, but the rest of the sets sound close to perfect to my ear.
- The compression used during the FM broadcast effects the dynamics of this source, it's as close to 60/40 as I could get it, but quiet
sections may sound more like a SBD than the rest of the show because of this.
- I removed and patched all of the "station id" interruptions except the one in PYITE, the patch was more of a detriment to the flow of
the song than the actual interruption.
- It was a real project but also a pleasure to mix these sources, getting to know The Went all over again.

Mastered: Soundforge Audio Studio 10.0a - slight volume normalization, some attempts to clean up glitches listed below (high pass filtering,
"LP pop and click removal" on the affected areas), also brought down the volume of most of the firecracker pops before normalizing. Sample rate
conversion 48khz to 44.1khz using iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter. All file manipulation in
Soundforge done at 24 bits, then dithered back to 16 bits using using iZotope MBIT+ with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings. Tracked in CDWav.
======================================================
Recording flaws (all in set 1):
Missing the first few seconds of Makisupa Policemean as I was unable to get my Sonosax to power up.
At 00:09, 00:27, 1:43, 2:21, 2:23 -- wind noise? (I might not have had my wind screens on initially in the rush to set up? Can't recall,
but the problem seems to go away after a few minutes). I've tried to minimize them as best I could in SoundForge. In 1st 42 seconds of the
show, there are some moments of slight distortion and compressed levels until I turned on 10db pad on the Tascam DA-P1, and then some slight
volume fluctuation for a short while after that while I got the levels tuned (though I have minimized this issue in Sound Forge so that the
volume fluctuations are nearly undetectable).
*There are no flaws noted in the other sets*

| Metawhy: Just checked my archives and it seems that I didn't tape that show. I have a clone labeled (d1) of that show in Boris Lvovsky's handwriting, so it's possible I might have lent him my mics for that night? |
