benissimo: If you have the desire, you can rent a very nice stereo mic (Neumann RSM-190) for 40 euros and a recorder (Fostex FR-2LE) for 25 euros from http://www.audiolambda.com/ They will also have mic stands and any required cables.
This stereo mic is easy to use, just get in the dead center and point it at the stage. However, I recommend renting it early in the day and practicing in front of your stereo at home before going to the show. The guys at the rental shop will also show you how to use everything.
Before I got my own mics I used to rent the same Neumann stereo mic and I would have bought one if they weren't so expensive.

| burris: thanks anyways, but at the venue they also explicitly said: no photos, no video, no audio recordings. It was the same deal back in 2001 when I saw them in Orvieto at the Umbria Jazz Festival - the venue prohibited taping. I think in that case a stealth recording did eventually surface. Maybe the same thing will happen with this performance, but it's a long shot... |
