this show is so good!!! My wife's first show, great Easter Sunday set (epic long Eyes, The Wheel, Knockin'), just smoke from start to finish!

This show was a lot of fun. If I remember right, we were able to fold up and stack all the metal chairs from the floor as the first set began. A really cool cop stopped me at one point and urged me to help him put them back. I just waved at everyone else and said "look, man, there's no way." He sighed, agreed and moved on. I went back to folding up chairs. The Cassidy - > Might As Well was really good (the paper the next day said the crowd really warmed up for "the Mighty Swell"), and the Samson -> Eyes to start the second set was out of sight. At the Holiday Inn afterwards, I heard a SBD tape of the February Warfield Garcia/Grisman shows for the first time (was super blown away by that)!

One of the least fun plces to see a show (no parking lot hanging allowed) but they always semed to play well here. This show is no exception!

This sounds great. I'd forgotten how sweet that "flute" solo was in Eyes...

Please oh please do the next night as well. there were two of the very best latter day shows the band ever did. I was at both the greensboro shows. yes the cops inside were very cool. They sat and watched us stack our chairs and sit on the floor and smoke during the set break. these shows would make a good official release. They were on Easter Sunday and April Fools day.

Also phil was seriously teasing Dark Star several times during Playin. they did it the next night.

I second the request for the next night (thanks for popping this first one us, Wharfrat73). Yes, Jperdue4, I can still remember Phil grinning and goading the band into Dark Star at the end of that Playin (the Eyes almost made it there too) and they almost went along. It was nice the next the night, though the chairs were bound together with those garbage tie/handcuffs weren't they? It would make for a nice official release, but the Samson, Eyes already made filler on a DP a long time ago, so probably not likely.

Thank you Charlie! Possibly my favorite show of the 90's. Hard to find a better back to back than 03/31/91 & 04/01/91 in the post-Brent era!

Probably one of the top 3 I saw in person. Dark Star the next night just seemed a little anticlimactic. This was the first of an 8 show run I did and the only downer was that no subsequent show came close.
Also, if anyone can tell me a post-74 Eyes that betters this one, I have to hear it!
Thanks! |
