download audacity > drag/drop flac24s into audacity > select all > preferences > quality > high quality sample rate conversion and select any for dither (i use shaped and i've never heard a difference between any of the choices) > ok >bottom left of window change project rate to 44.1 > file > export multiple > export format > wav 16 bit > select destination > using label/track name > then you can add metadata for each file or just hit ok for all the files and keep the names currently associated with each file = folder full of 16/44 files. if you need help ping me via david397 AT yahoo

^^ the advantage/s here is that you'll now know how to do it for any recording, you'll make this torrent go faster, you'll get to enjoy/learn about 24bit sound, and if you feel inclined you can upload the 16/44 fileset and be a hero to those without the inclination to learn anything new.

or you could just buy some schoeps a pre amp and a recorder and go record it in 16 bit yourself.
most people dl the 16 bit versions.
it is much easier for the seeder to convert than ask 100's of dl'ers to each conv files... |

i passed on it because i did not want to dl 24 bit now. i have a whole fest sbd from last week to convert from 24 /96....

If you go the above conversion route, don't forget to fix sector boundary errors before you encode to FLAC. 24-bit files don't have sector boundaries but 16-bit files do...

thanks g.o. forgot about the sectors boundaries.

Actually Freeborn_Man, it's easier for the taper to never bother to upload the show at all - be thankful for what's offered. If you don't want to download 24bit then don't.

100s of downloaders don't need to convert it to 16bit - if that many folks only want 16bit, it only takes one downloader to convert it and then seed the converted 16bit source for everyone else. No reason the taper should have to take yet more time to make it exactly how some downloaders want it - it's easy enough for someone else to take on some of the workload from here.

I didn't mean to stir things up. I use R8brain when I need to dither. Some seeders prefer that you leave their uploads alone.

bk, you can distribute this recording in any format you wish. if you degrade it via 16/44, mp3, applelossy, etc, please note the process/lineage.

Thanks for the easy-to-understand instructions - I fer one took the plunge and am glad I did, sure sounds good to my ears, nice acoustic shine to the instruments and a real full bodied range ... great recording. This is one folksy hometown show I must say.
