It was a beautiful little show! I walked in and there was William Tonks who plays in Bloodkin, Romper Stompers, and all kinds of great local Athens music! He happens to work at the Botanical Gardens. What a lovely place and setting for a show. The folks there are SO nice too.
Whisper Kiss opened with a nice 40 minute set. Randall took the stage to a very enthusiastic crowd! He had lots of friends and his Grandkids there as well. I really don't think folks realize his talent as a song writer. One of his new ones he played, is covered on Bonnie Raitt's new album! I have seen him perform since the 70's when I used to love going to see Sea Level. He was in Traffic for the 1994 tour. I wish they had kept up their momentum from theat tour. Even the new arrangements back then were superb. I have seen him with Widespread Panic during the years after Mikey Houser passed. The sound and setting could not have been better! Hats off to the Botanical Gardens. They have a regular schedule of shows once a month in the summer, so check them out. ( www.uga.edu/botgarden )
After the show, I hit the cafe and got a Brunswick Stew for the ride home. Delicious!
