My review: This guy has been the darling of the blues community ever since EVERYONE saw his awesome cover of "Bright Lights, Big City" on the Eric Clapton Crossroads guitar festival special on PBS, and he's the real deal. Groundbreaking? Not exactly -- at least not yet (he's still under 30). But a super talented semi-traditional electric guitarist? Yes! If you like Buddy Guy, you'll hear something familiar in what Gary Clark Jr. does...a number of covers (including some Hendrix), a few originals, and his signature cover of the aforementioned "Bright Lights..." will keep you engaged. I'd seen him do two sets two summers ago at moe.down and knew his set would be great, but alas Jen & I had to sneak back to our condo to go give Disco Dogg a walk during his set so I didn't actually SEE any of it, though we could hear it OK from our condo. Luckily my microphones do not require hand-cranking to record and can still keep running without my physical presence near them. :)
