Notes
------------------------------------
- boosted volume of entire file by 2.5 dB in Goldwave
- pops and crackles during the first couple of minutes of reckoner due to some assholes shooting fireworks off in the crowd, probably 150' behind us and to the left
- thankfully there are only a few overenthusiastic "woohoo!"s over the course of the 2+ hours. and with the mics up at 9', it's not much of an issue.

Thoughts
------------------------------------
After witnessing Radiohead's 2006 set at Bonnaroo, I wasn't sure that anybody, even the miracle workers themselves, could top that. But upon reflection and listening back, I'd have to say I think they pulled it off. This was a show for the ages, with a great setlist, an incredible visual show, and the type of energy that 80,000 enraptured fans can help a band generate. The sound on the What Stage is always amazing, but when you have the the type of organic and electronic dynamics that Radiohead creates, that sound system really shines. Even though I wasn't in usual FOB/DFC spot, I wasn't too far away from that prime location, and you can hear every cymbal, every acoustic strum.
Coming as it did on Friday night, this show set the bar far too high for the Chili Peppers or Phish to even come close to reaching. Apparently the longest show of the tour to date, this will go down (in my memory at least) as one of the best sets in my nine years of attending the festival. |

Really great job on this. Full deep/rich low/mids and perfect highs and vocals.
This is a by far the best source out IMO FOR me.
This beats out the Schoeps and ck1 sources by a lengthy margin.

Wonderful pull, but I wouldn't say that this sounds better than the schoeps mk4v. Completely subjective of course, but on critical listening that recording to my ear is tighter with richer dynamics and lower crowd noise.
In either case, this was a beyond-extraordinary performance with several fantastic captures available here. Thank you to the tapers for such awesome work! So deeply appreciated. |

I would and did say that this sounds a lot better than the schoeps source. Believe me, all assumptions I had and all logistics would and usually does point to the schoeps source as being "richer" but here that's not the case. You are right, it is subjective.
However my ears would generally approve of the MK4v cardioid over the Church Audio 11 cardioid 9 times out of 10 in the low-end shelf alone but once again it;s not the case.
A little more crowd noise here, yes, but when comparing what the gear chain is picking up corresponding to tone and the actual music, the Church rig wins. There is no smear, and everything is well defined with separation and a lot more balanced.
YMMV.

Yet another source you may want to check out is this one at DIME.

Using Berliner CM-33 mics.
I love when RH plays festies because you know they will be openly recorded! Doesn't happen all that often so we must sieze the sources!!!
They are all good. Thanks fellow tapers |

many thanks on the props...i downloaded the schoeps source to A/B against mine and they both sound great. i'm always amazed at what my little compact church rig can do.
regardless of source, this was an amazing show all around and it's nice to have it preserved in multiple versions. hats off to my fellow tapers, most of whom i met/know at/from bonnaroo! |
