Traders Little Helper used for creating checksums:
- FLAC ST5 & MD5 generated for original FLACs
- FLAC ID3 tagged files matched to original FLAC ST5
- FLAC MD5 generated for ID3 tagged files (t-flac.md5)

MP3Tag (current version) used for all ID3 tagging:
- The metadata ID3 tags can be read by any player that plays FLAC files.
- ID3 tags will be stripped if converted to WAV, however audio data will be unaffected

Use FLAC ST5 to validate audio integrity.
(Alternatively, the FLAC FFP contains the same checksum values.)
t-FLAC MD5 values will change if ID3 tags are altered.
Original FLAC MD5 & ST5 included for reference
T-FLAC16TAG.HTML uses FOLDER.JPG to display album art
T-FLAC16TAG.TXT provides a track-by-track breakdown of the fileset's ID3 tags

This is an effort to seed all existing MMW shows, and yes, preserving the audio of the original SHN/FLAC filesets -- but now with a twist. We are now seeding ID3 FLAC encoded filesets of db.etree sources which still maintains the audio integrity. The seeding will proceed chronologically for the most part, with exceptions as we feel the vibe to seed other gigs from other times.

Thanks to MMW for allowing their music to be recorded....really, thank you.

Huge thanks goes out to the TAPERS, without whom this wouldn't be possible...and those others who have helped get the tunes to our ears.

These shows are all being listened to, setlists updated, flaws noted and/or corrected, and hopefully we're circulating the best seeds we can.

All shows listed here in SHN/FLAC will be seeded:

These shows will be seeded as well, either by me or by one of a few other kind souls:

Shows listed here circulate in some manner. We are looking for as close to the original source as we can get so if you can help out with any of the following, we'd all appreciate it: (this list is in the process of being compiled and is grossly out of date ... maybe forever? Worth a look though!)

enjoy the grooves

MMW Performance History @ - this is a fantastic resource that allows you to look at info on gigs by MMW and related side projects and guest appearances; big thanks to Tom for creating this page.

We are actively updating all setlists as we seed, and also others outside the particular order of the project.

db.etree is also being updated in tandem with the updates to Tom's pages -- both the source and show pages.

... hopefully somebody who grabbed a fileset you need can go back and help you out. Folks, please revisit these old torrents and see if anyone needs some help. Thanks for helping to spread the grooves.

**NOTE** I am trying to leave all new torrents open indefinitely since my new internet connection affords me ample bandwidth to keep on seeding! (dug - Jan 2012)

This gig is a MUST HAVE for anyone dipping into MMW or hardcore fans alike. It has a wild section from the trio to start the set, with (another) guest spot by their bus driver Dom wailing on trumpet for Felic, but then it's Michael Ray, Mark McGrain, Roger Lewis & Clarence Johnson III that send things out there ... when Michael Ray's involved in the horn section, there always seems to be extra fun ... and the jam that comes out of 3rd Stone just sounded like they're riffing off the I Wanna Be Like You groove without actually playing the song, really ... anyway, GREAT GROOVES in here!
mmwarchives 2012-11-12 09:17:51
Thanks duggy!!

Are we sure that this torrent(4056) & the other one(4544) are really just not the same source in the end with a different transfer process??
They look ridiculously similar to me even though the labeling is slightly different. I have not opened them up & done a WAV comparison, but
I have a feeling that they are just the same source...maybe with one of the torrents being a guy that was patching out of the chain at the show.

What say you??
duggy 2012-11-12 12:57:02
Bill, I wondered the same thing, to be honest. This is probably betraying my lack of mic or tech know-how, but are "Neumann KM140" mics the same as "Neumann AK40"? That's where I saw the difference ... I wondered if Luke patched his mics into John/Jeff's recording rig ... I realize a patch normally goes the other way, but ... I really don't know! HA! And, I haven't examined the WAVs -- I'll ask Tom (twilight) about that ...
mmwarchives 2012-11-13 01:17:16
"Neumann AK40" are just the capsules & the "100" part is the bodies. I ahve a feeling that these 2 ARE the same & one guy listed the
'technically correct way of "AK40" as the capsules were in the air separated from the bodies by the active cables (the 'LC3KA') & the other guy
just listed them the shorthand way of 'km140, as many folks did back then. That's just my theory, of course.
duggy 2012-11-14 13:57:05
We haven't done a WAV comparison of the two sources, *BUT*, I will say that the other source (shn=4544; noted as FOB) sounds *better* to my ears than this Neumann source (shn=4056) ... FWIW ...
