Source Notes:
Soundcheck + Set 1 are the new source.
Something odd going on @ 12:40 of YEM
Cut ~2:07 in Wilson, likely a tape flip on the original source that created this.
Pretty tough cut ~0:28 of David Bowie, likely the second tape flip from the first source.
Second cut nasty cut in Bowie at tape end
Others have said this first set sounds off-speed. I did not speed adjust this source at all.
Set 2 was originally part of shnid 112453
AC/DC Bag > Possum is of a different, also unknown lineage

It should be added that Jeff Mitchell got the tape to me, or rather connected Seaweed and me together... Really, all I did was receive the tape and send it to Ifthir... I should receive no real credit... Just doing my part as a member of our community...

I have compared the AC/DC > Possum of this set against these Shows: 1987-04-24, 1987-08-10, 1987-09-21, 1987-10-31, 1988-01-27, 1988-02-03, 1988-02-26, 1988-04-22, 1988-07-23, 1988-12-10. This AC/DC > Possum is NOT any from any one of those shows. It may be from 1988-03-31 (uncirculated), or it may indeed be from this show, or it may be from another unknown show...
There is a "The Chase" intro to "Possum"... |

| Thanks to each person, no matter how big or small a part they played, in getting this out there. The long journey from sitting in my attic for 10 years to being sent around the east coast a few times, it finally ended up at home on etree for everyone to enjoy! I remember this date well as I was in Milwaukee seeing the Grateful Dead this particular night. |

Terry I probably could have saved you some time by mentioning I did the same comparisons RE: AC/DC Bag > Possum.

| Hi everyone. I have been going through some old tapes, digitizing stuff, and I just found my pair of master tapes for this show. I was there (Cook Commons at the Billings Student Ctr.), and plugged my tape deck into Phish's board. I thought I had the only set of master tapes to this show, so was surprised to find this posting. However, back in the day I'm sure some friends made copies and that is probably the origin of this torrent. I am going to be digitizing the tapes over the next week. I'm probably not technically skilled enough to upload here, but if anyone wants me to burn and send them a CD, I'd do that (within reason). I think it's funny that the show notes say that attendance was down because of no alcohol -- in fact, attendence for this show was the worst of any Phish show I ever went to. I would estimate that there were 50-70 people there. |

Hey, you guys might find this exciting -- I have the rest of the David Bowie that is cut on the version posted here.
Also, I'm now certain that the Set I posted here is from a descendent generation of my master tape. The gaps cited as tape flips aren't -- what they are is dancing people hitting up against my tape deck and accidentally pushing the "rec mute" button. The gap in David Bowie is because I ran out of tape and switched tapes -- I found the rest on my Set II tape and spliced it in.
What's interesting is that I only had a 60 min tape for set II, and taped some of David Bowie on it, so there must have been another set II master, because I am missing the end of the show on mine. That's probably also why the encore songs of unverified origin were added. Probably by one of my friends who copied my 60 min tape onto a Maxell XLII 90 and wanted something to fill the dead space with.
