Always been a huge fan of this show, the energy level is hot. Agreed on the Scarlet>Fire and the segue into the Wheel out of space, it is one of my very favorite GD moments

Love the sound. This show was the first show of the Spring East Coast tour. This was also the first tour booklet I bought, and maybe was the first time it was offered. $172.50 go us each a ticket to all 13 shows. If a show wasn't GA, we had a seat in the 16th row. The Niagara Falls show was the last GA show of the tour so we ended up sitting with the same people for the last 9 shows. What a great time meeting up with the same people every night, getting blasted with these folks, and we all had the same hacking cough by the time we were in Nassau. It was all about hearing great music. Thank you for this new source.

Here's Mark's 421 FOB recording of the next night -

He and I put that out six years ago. Props to McQ. He still tapes with a D5 and the recordings are just as good!

hey Albix thanks a ton for the link to the next night, what a fantabulous pair of aud tapes from the spectacular spring '84, two new golden nuggets for the ever growing collection, to be sure !!!

A buddy and I sipped a couple days of class to hitch hike from upstate NY to go to the two Hampton shows. Fortunately we had mail order tickets. We got to the lot 45 minutes before show time. We left our camping stuff with the last ride.

When we came out, it was pouring rain. My buddy was no where to be found, and neither was my gear. I stood at the exit and watched every car leave the lot. Happily, I ran into another friend who had room in the tent. The next morning was sunny and after ten minutes walking around the campground I found my buddy in my tent.

The next night was even better. The Saturday night Terrapin was amazing.

I can say alot about the early GD tapers, its where I got my start. Mark McCue understood alot more then some of the tapers of the era. he understood stagesound and WHERE to find the sweet spot. Mark Needs not to brag about his recordings as others have about thiers. He's just a very unique taper and has selflessly shared as many of them with us that he could. now thats a good man, friend and mentor! I know a few tapers who have killer masters but are to selfish to actually share them.

Us audiophiles who recieve these over time, LIVE to make these recordings possible and better, for everone to enjoy. if I remember correctly back in the day... thats what it ALL was about and to me still is.

Thanks Mark and Alex for ALL you do to flood our ears with the best possible sources, sounds and shows!

ONE** of the best 84 sources Ive heard... hands down!
Albix 2012-12-23 16:58:12
Thanks for all of the kind words...

Mark asked me to post this link -

The page does not give him credit but it's one of Kurt Casey's Nak300 FOBs from 1983. Kurt was extremely generous with young tapers like Mark. Sounds great to me :)

always been a fan of McQue's work since I heard 3/24/85 Springfield, all the best to him for what he's done and added to the community!
