|A great night of entertainment. After going to bed Friday Night after 4:00 due to the Club d'Elf show, work on 3 hours sleep was rough yesterday. After work, I met Brian at the usual spot when we ride together to Rhode Island. Got there an hour early so I could watch the 2nd half of the SU vs. Louisville Hoop Game. Brian got there with 10 minutes left. What a game as the Cuse, rated #6, took out the Cardinals rated #1 on their court. We were minus a suspended senior too, making it that more impressive! Off to Providence as we were VERY happy campers! Parked right in front of the venue and headed to Wes's Rib House down the street for BBQ with Mike C.
Smelled great on the outside as smoke was pouring out in the cool air. Would we be fooled? I ordered a Combo Platter of 2 meats, St. Louis Ribs and Pulled Pork, along with Corn Bread, Baked Beans, and Cole Slaw. My food arrived and the Pork was mixed with cabbage and looked like Pork Hash. Took 1 bite and it was barely luke warm. Tha, t was it for the pork. Picked up a rib and it was room temperature. The Beans tasted like they came out of a can and were mixed with lots of Ketchup. The only things good were the Cole Slaw and Corn Bread. I nicely told the bartender and she said "I don't blame you".
Got over to the venue just before doors and met Andy, Jason, and the Marinoff's. Went in and set up in the sweet spot, under the "umbrella lights", about 21' from stage. There were 6 of us taping, a tight group! The boys took the stage around 9:55 and gave us a solid 65 minute set. Highlight for me was Girlfriend is Better as Brendn dedicated it to Manti Te'o, too funny! Syncopated and Morning Sun also great.
The 2nd set featured a daily double of Pink Floyd to open, In the Flesh with Joel killing the vocals>Another Brick In The Wall. Superb opener! My favorite as far as the playing may have been a very sweet Sociable Jimmy. The Higgins closer was the balls! Jajunk encore is always a solid closer.
After the show, I had LARGE plans of hitting Olneyville New York System for some Gagger Dogs. They were good on my maiden voyage last month after Sister Sparrow. Brian and Mike were already on board. It did not take too much to get Andy, Jason, and the Marinoff's to go with us. It was filling up at a good rate. As hungry as I was, I hit the take-out end and ordered 3 "All The Way" with a Large Coffee Milk. With-in 5 minutes, I was chowing down!
Here are a couple of my amateur videos. From our spot on the packed floor, I had very little choice where to put my camera so the mic stands are in the way to some degree. Also with Jefferson blowing up the lights and using a bunch of Reds and Blues, parts of each video can be blurry, just want to warn you ahead of time.

Enjoy Show #9 or 2013!
|Too bad about Wes's that is a place you want to be good, but it does let you down. Gaggers never fail to deliver, and you haven't lived until you had proper coffee milk. The gagger, Rhode Islands contribution to the culinary world.
Show was fun, sold out, and very crowded, bartenders were molasses slow, and bathroom line was depressing. Otherwise a cool venue.
Can't wait for Medeski next weekend, who's in?
|nice work z. probably should have eaten at the irish pub although my burger was not bad at all.
always a pleasure.
great venue to see a show and I was happy with the lights as I wasn't sure how they'd be in a smaller place.
|Haven't been to Fete yet ... Jaimoe is there soon and hope to go. Where the hell is it ? Up on Federal Hill ?
|Around the corner from Olneyville New York System. Make sure you stop in and get 3 "all the way"!
|Never been to Wes's and walked out saying "Hmm, I'm glad I ate that!"
I'll never go there again!
Who was running the Geffels? I'd be interested to hear that pull. Listening to the Neumanns now, can't wait to hear in Zman perfection.
This show was power on steroids and the venue has excellent sound. Hope UM comes back here in the fall
