Thanks for another source!
I notice that the left and right on this one are backwards - the ocean can be heard on the right but when facing the stage (looking at mo-mule's pics), the ocean was on the left.
Perhaps a corrected version if it's worth it..? |

try flipping your headphones 180 degrees, nothing was swapped and channels are correct.
I Asked dave he says with his set up impossible and it is in the left on my set up on my play back |

Well, my headphones were what told me they were reversed..
Comparing with Jeff's AKG recording (ocean on the left), it's backward. That's all I'm saying, I can fix it myself. Thanks again. |

Taper Joe:
I took the liberty to analyze this in wablab. I get even stereo exchange thru both channels of the ocean and well balanced. nothing has phasing I checked that.
its so well balanced I hear the ocean equally on BOTH channels.
then I compared both of the other sources. The other sources are NOT equally balanced nor do they have the upfront qualitys of this.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS RECORDING....

Obviously it's the music that matters here and NOT the sound of the ocean waves.
I just wanted to point out what I perceived as a slight, easily fixable error (as I would want anyone to do with anything I seeded), but you guys seem pretty convinced, so that's fine.
Thank you again. |

and what part of the music is off??
None
my case in point~
how can ya fix what you "call" an error that does not exhist? or I would be all over it Joe... thats a fact. hey I respect your point, but your just dead wrong. I dont need to be convinced do the homework I did and youll see how close it really is. DEAD ON!
Since your inclined load this in a wav editor and look at the spectrum and the phasing. You will notice it never leaves the center of the scope. could it be possible 2 different rigs record different ambient sounds at different frequencies being more /less noticable? yes, it can. like 2 rigs exactly set-up the same placed 10 ft apart. will the recordings sound the same or different?99.9 scientific chance they will be totally different even with matched cables and caps.
so theory:
if this science holds true the right or left channel might pick up more or less to one side depending on set up.hence picking up more ocean sound in one channel even though they were facing the same direction and in phase? just because the oceans on the left, does not mean that the right channel didnt pick up more of the ambient sound. It absolutely can.Wind can change this factor as well expecially if its dampning the other side...expecially recording on a beach.
and like you said, which I was going to mention earlier, does this effect the music? NO.
If you dont like the sound delete it..... others will still download it and be happy to get it. Im just the fix it guy.... and if it need to be fixed I would have done it already and pulled the torrent. |

It sounds great, I don't think I suggested otherwise.
About 30 seconds into the first track, around when Warren says, "Alright, it is Jamaica so, sometimes you gotta wait" there are waves breaking on the beach. In one recording they're heard on the left, on the other the right. It made me curious, that's all. |
